About the Richmond Seniors Advisory Committee
Richmond's Seniors have always been a vital and active part of our community. Over the past few years, this segment of the population has grown substantially. With the aging of the baby boom generation, the projection for the future is that seniors will form the largest proportion of our society.
The first volunteer members of Richmond Seniors Advisory Committee were officially appointed by Richmond City Council in May 1991. Formerly known as the Richmond Seniors Advisory Council, this committee considers and evaluates issues referred to it by City Council, City staff and members of the community. The Committee also initiates studies on matters deemed to be of concern to seniors and submits information, options and recommendations to City Council as necessary and requested. While we assist and support various endeavours on behalf of Seniors, it is not within our mandate to carry out those endeavours.
